Tuesday 1st November

Finished Sharon Osbourne's autobiography in 3 days.  Still don't feel like I really know what makes her tick, the "revelations" and details of her life that were shared felt guarded somehow but it was interesting.  Started Alan Bennett's "Untold Stories" but the first chapters are dedicated to the decline of the mental health of his mother and ultimately her death; his father's death and that of his auntie.  It was making me too depressed so will go back to it at some other time.  Just started Richard Branson's autobiography "Losing my Virginity" and love it!  When he was at boarding school, he was playing football and injured his knee.  He tells of how his parents always told him to laugh when in pain and he said he was half laughing/half screaming as he was carried off the field.  Took me back to the night I broke my arm.  You know when you're in pain but you make that weird chimp-like noise that sounds like laughing, no?  Okay, you must have been tickled at some point and despite wanting it to stop, you can't help but laugh in short gasps?  When I fell, I was rolling on the floor in agony but making that same noise.  When our next door neighbours found out why "Justine sounded like she was having a good time" they were mortified they didn't come to my aid.  I wouldn't recommend following his parents' advice, instead, I'd say; scream like a banshee, you'll stand a better chance of someone coming to help you! ;0)
